Chief Day Star
(Kii-si-caw-ah-chuck)

Picture
Chief Day Star was known to have prophetic dreams and visions, and the creation of the present day Day Star Reserve arises from a prophesy.

Day Star followed his dream and selected this land as the spirit had told him. The hill that Day Star saw in his dream, known today as Day Star’s Hill or Blue Hill is on the north end of the Reserve. It is the highest point of land between Riding Mountain National Park and Cypress Hills.

Picture
We speak Cree here, the language is special to our Reserve.
It's a different accent and a slightly different dialect.
